Welcome

Welcome to Kingston University London and thank you for your interest in the role of Governor.

Our world is fast becoming more interconnected through advances in emerging technologies. Society is changing at pace, with employers repeatedly telling us they need highly skilled graduates who bring innovation, enterprise, digital aptitude and creative problem-solving to the workplace.

Through our Town House Strategy, Kingston University is already making significant strides in meeting these challenges by rolling out a progressive new model of education across our undergraduate curriculum. We are committed to enabling our students to develop the futureproofed skills and graduate attributes to prosper in their careers. Partnerships with businesses and other external bodies remain critical in both supporting our ground-breaking approach to education and generating and disseminating knowledge. Collaboration and innovation underpin everything we do.

Held in high regard for the quality of our student experience, we are the proud holder of three Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold ratings. Our research, knowledge exchange and professional practice is focused on areas in which we can make maximum impact and drive innovation.

We continue to achieve impressive results in our academic and financial performance, even in the face of sector-wide challenges relating to policy and funding. The changing environment in higher education means we must constantly strive to deliver for our students and staff in an ever more dynamic and demanding sector. We continue to focus on sustaining and improving our performance, so we can be in the best position possible to capitalise on our strengths and invest in our long-term growth.

Enhancements in our academic performance are reflected by our growing influence in the sector, where we are leading the way in championing the future skills needed to reinvigorate the national economy. Across our campuses, drawing on our core values – inclusive, innovative, ambitious and enterprising – we are transforming ways of working to instil a high-performing culture that will allow us the capacity and creativity to thrive.

To help to drive forward our ambitions, we are now seeking to appoint three new governors for the academic year 2025/26 onwards to help us to ensure that the University’s strategic aims are delivered, while guaranteeing its continued academic and financial success.

We offer the opportunity to make a genuine difference to an ambitious and pioneering university. We look forward to hearing from you.
