JRF is seeking an exceptional individual to join our Social Investment Committee and help us accelerate our mission of ending poverty in the UK.

Since 2015, our Social Investment Committee has played a vital role in achieving this vision. We invest our resources in initiatives that create positive change on social issues like affordable housing, good jobs, and low-cost finance, believing that poverty in the UK can be solved. We prioritise investments that generate financial returns, allowing us to reinvest and amplify our impact.

The Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity to join a dedicated team actively shaping a more equitable future. You’ll leverage your expertise and passion for social change to guide our investment strategy, contributing directly to our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and recommend potential social investments aligned with our mission and impact goals.
  • Provide expert advice on investment strategies that consider financial returns, social impact, and ethical considerations.
  • Be a critical friend to the Social Investment team in the analysis and monitoring of existing investments, ensuring they deliver against social and financial objectives.
  • Contribute to shaping the Committee’s overall investment approach and policies.
  • Champion impactful solutions that address systemic inequalities and promote social justice.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Proven track record in social investing, impact investing, or related fields.
  • Deep understanding of social issues in the UK, particularly those related to poverty, housing, and employment.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills coupled with the ability to assess social impact.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for social change and a commitment to ethical and responsible investment practices.

Benefits:

  • This is a voluntary role with a time commitment of four days per year, plus additional preparation/engagement for formal SIC meetings.  Occasional virtual meetings are also required ‘off-cycle’ to support specific decision-making processes.
