We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) as a Trustee, bringing the expertise and experience to advise on policy and public affairs matters.

The Institute of Cancer Research is a:

  • Company limited by guarantee, incorporated in 1954 and its objects, powers and framework of governance are set out in its Articles of Association

Our mission is to make the discoveries that defeat cancer through world- leading research and excellent learning and teaching.

We are international leaders in the identification of cancer-related genes, discovery of new targeted cancer drugs and development of new forms of high-precision radiotherapy. Our unique partnership with The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and integrated ‘bench to bedside and back again’ approach ensure our research advances rapidly to reach patients and place us among the top four centres in the world for cancer research and treatment.

As a member institution of the University of London, the ICR provides postgraduate higher education of international distinction. As a charity we rely on vital support from donors. Our five-year strategy Defeating Cancer aims to accelerate progress for cancer patients by harnessing the latest scientific knowledge and technology to drive innovation in treatment.

The Board of Trustees is the ICR’s governing body, responsible for setting strategic direction and providing oversight. We have a strong and committed group of Trustees, who bring a wealth of experience and expertise.
