Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven financial leadership experience, ideally at Director or Senior Management level.
  • Excellent knowledge of charity finance, including restricted/unrestricted funds, statutory reporting, and grant compliance.
  • Experience in commercial income generation, such as retail, hospitality, or venue hire, and the ability to grow revenue streams.
  • Understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance, particularly in the non-profit or cultural sector.
  • Demonstrable experience of budget management, financial forecasting, and reporting to Boards or senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing audits and financial reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
  • Ability to lead high-performing teams, setting clear objectives and driving continuous improvement.
  • A professional finance qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA) or equivalent experience in charity finance.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience managing relationships with Arts Council England, local authorities, and philanthropic funders.
  • Strong knowledge of charity governance and reporting obligations, including SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) guidelines.
