In place of listing the various skills and characteristics we are looking for, we are choosing to be explicit about the five things that we are primarily looking for from the Chair for this next stage of our journey. This is based on our experience of where previous Chairs have added most value, and an assessment of the likely opportunities and challenges for this next stage of our journey as an organisation.
- Expertise at building Boards into a strong, united team. We want our Chair to have the time and the expertise to shape our existing set of Trustees into a strong team.
- An intellectual curiosity and a willingness to both share their wisdom and learn from the ideas and thinking which already exists within the charity. An openness to consider innovative and unusual ways to scale businesses and build working cultures.
- Strong, existing networks and a willingness to be proactive in drawing on these networks to open doors to influence and funding for the charity.
- The time to prioritise the Chair role amid other commitments, with a minimum of 1 day per month and the ability to be available for occasional calls on an ad-hoc, short notice basis should issues arise.
