Head of Finance and Resources
Duration: Permanent.
Reporting to: CEO.
Salary: £60-65,000 full time.
Location: Remote, with occasional meetings in London.
Purpose of the job
The Head of Finance and Resources is a new critical role for DiNN. The post holder will ensure we keep up with best practices relating to our organisation-wide strategy, risk management, governance and finance function.
Working with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Directors, this postholder will lead to effective business planning and implementation. The role will set us up to adapt to the changing landscape in the sector by leading the fortification of our financial processes and building in best practices relating to all operational activities internally and externally. The Head of Finance and Resources will be key in implementing a strategy to ensure our long-term financial health and growth, working with external experts to ensure this (e.g. auditors).
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, this role will provide professional and people leadership for the organisation to realise our vision. In this role, you will report to the CEO and collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and lead strategic reviews, planning, risk and reporting.
Senior Leadership of the Organisation

- Provide professional and people leadership for the organisation, establishing a vibrant culture and building confidence in the future direction of DiNN.
- Build the credibility of Do It Now Now as a thought leader externally. Grow the brand, reputation and impact of DiNN through the establishment of best in class practice that improves the experience of funders, regulators and other key stakeholders as they engage with us.
- Enable a team learning culture that promotes collaboration, proactivity, and responsibility, ensuring that individuals are focused on providing the foundations that will allow them to contribute to the mission and vision of our organisation effectively.
Core responsibilities
- Work closely with the CEO and the Board as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to manage our financial position, build in efficiencies and support consolidation.
- Working with SLT to identify activities to be supported, scaled up or stopped in line with DiNN’s set objectives and changes in the external environment (I.e. horizon scanning).
- Contribute to long-term fundraising strategy including developing an endowment for the organisation.
- Lead on organisational readiness reviews from a finance and systems perspective to identify strengths and areas for development, supporting the organisation in securing effective ways of working at organisational, departmental, team, and individual levels. This includes managing strategic reviews, planning processes, ISO Certification and org reporting.
- Create and maintain critical finance processes, a financial control framework in line with best practice, including our delegation of authority framework and ensure that processes and controls are in place to ensure this is effective and followed .
- Create and maintain a Finance risk register, ensuring that we have coverage of these risks at a programme and funder level all the way to an organisational level.
- Prepare, challenge and review budgets for restricted/unrestricted, overheads and teams, and present consolidated budgets to the Senior Leadership Team and as part of funding processes as required .
- Oversee the processing of all financial transactions and reconciling of bank accounts, ensuring that all such tasks are performed to the highest possible standard, holding a practice of regular quality checks on the work of our external finance support .
- Review all financial policies against external legislation, updating these policies where necessary or creating new ones.
- Coordinate outsourced accounting supplier and internal staff to produce monthly management reporting for the senior leadership team and Directors and to ensure that all statutory duties are met.
