- To contribute actively to the Board’s role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall strategy and policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance.
- To ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations including in employment, data protection and safeguarding.
- To ensure the financial stability and sustainability of the Church Urban Fund and related entities and oversee its effective and efficient administration.
- To ensure that the organisation uses it resources in service to its mission and regular and appropriate reporting is in place.
- To safeguard the good name and reputation of the Church Urban Fund
- To act as an ambassador for its work including with partners, in the policy arena and/or with funders and potential funders.
- To understand the issues and challenges faced by those with whom the organisation works and seeks to support.
- To act as a ‘critical friend’ to the organisation’s executive team when necessary.
- To scrutinise board papers, attend Board meetings and participate fully in Board decision-making.
- To serve on board committees, and fully participate in meeting their remit as agreed.
- To take part in the life of the Church Urban Fund attending events and meeting delivery partners in different parts of the country.
- To play an active part in review of performance both organisation and the Board to maintain a high performing culture in line with best practice.
- To take part in regular review of the performance of the board and agree to an annual appraisal of your own contribution and assessment of where you can add value going forward.
