Role Description

Salary: Circa. £100k p.a.

Creative UK is the independent network for the UK Creative Industries. Our goal is simple: to cultivate a world where creativity is championed, valued, and nurtured.

We are now looking for an experienced, ambitious leader to join Creative UK as our new Managing Director. This role will have two key purposes: to hold overall responsibility for generating and driving our revenues and to operationalise our strategy. As our Managing Director, you will work closely with our CEO and other members of the Executive team to realise Creative UK’s core mission to utilise the power of the creative industries to change lives.

We have been able to grow an authentic voice which represents, promotes, and enhances the interests of the UK’s world-leading creative sector via high-profile public campaigning, partnering with industry, and influencing through devolved and local governments and parliaments. This is made possible through convening, mobilising, and partnering with an influential and diverse mix of creative organisations, creators, education providers, trade bodies and unions that make up our membership.

Accountabilities

  • To generate revenues and drive the commercial performance of Creative UK, operationalising our growth strategy.
  • To join the dots across Creative UK, ensuring we translate strategy into action plans and deliver success across the various components of our commercial offering.
  • To lead on the commercial development of our programmes, both with current and new partners, identifying opportunities for growth and impact.
  • To provide oversight and leadership across company infrastructure, operations, and business development.
  • To support the CEO in managing the Executive team and delivery of the business plan, with a particular emphasis on commercial performance.
  • To champion a culture of inclusion, participation, and action, driving team development to achieve business growth.

Main areas of responsibility

  • To lead and execute the implementation of Creative UK’s strategies, translating strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth.
  • To develop Creative UK’s long-term income strategy, taking overall responsibility for growing revenue through new and existing channels, helping us achieve annual revenue targets.
  • Manage and nurture existing and new relationships with our partners to ensure meaningful engagement with Creative UK’s mission and platform.
  • Work closely with the CEO to deliver our business plan with a particular emphasis on operational and commercial performance.
  • Work closely with other members of the leadership team and wider staff body to identify new opportunities for commercial and partnership development.
  • To act as a senior leader across Creative UK with direct line management of four Heads of Department.
  • To work with the CEO and senior leadership team to realise our vision, inspiring a culture of ambition and action.
  • Ensure Creative UK takes an integrated approach to strategy and action e.g. by bringing together functional teams.
