The Council works with the independent charities in dioceses and parishes across England through support, services and legislation.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"content\">\n\t<div class=\"content__container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"content__row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content__column\">\n\t\t  \t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"content__image content__image--image-left\" src=\"https:\/\/micro.green-park.co.uk\/churchofengland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/267\/2026\/04\/William-Nye-Jan-2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Church of England is complex \u2013 we benefit from a richness of theological and liturgical traditions, an established status, a presence in every community in the country, diverse communities, an ordained priesthood and more.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking to appoint a new trustee to the Council who understands this richness and celebrates it. The intention is for this person also to Chair the Racial Justice Board, which is a committee of the Archbishops\u2019 Council and oversees the work of the Church of England\u2019s Racial Justice Unit in demonstrating that diversity is foundational to our faith, in encouraging and fostering racial justice, implementing the recommendations of the Archbishops\u2019 Commission for Racial Justice and sharing best practice in this area across the Church.<\/p>\n<p>We are interested in hearing from candidates who are familiar with the structure and operation of the Church of England through its dioceses and parishes, and have particular experience of and heart for racial justice. We are looking for people who are passionate about the local church and bringing the Church\u2019s Vision and Strategy to life, and who enjoy working to make a difference.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for a colleague who will:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>operate impartially, building trust through applying objective expertise to support decision-making in a diversity of contexts and traditions;<\/li>\n<li>work collaboratively, respective others who hold different views;<\/li>\n<li>demonstrate a commitment to improving racial diversity and racial justice;<\/li>\n<li>be an excellent communicator \u2013 a confident ambassador for work of the Council;<\/li>\n<li>be a person of prayer, who seeks to follow Jesus Christ in all areas of life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Joining the Archbishops\u2019 Council is a wonderful opportunity to help support and grow the Church of England\u2019s mission and ministry across the country.
