Thank you so much for considering applying to become a trustee of the Archbishops\u2019 Council and bringing your gifts to support the Church\u2019s Mission and Ministry across England.<\/p>\n

The Church\u2019s exciting Vision and Strategy for the 2020s seeks a simpler, humbler and bolder Church for the whole nation which is Jesus Christ centred and shaped by the Five Marks of Mission.\u00a0As a trustee of the Archbishops\u2019 Council you will have an opportunity to help support parishes, cathedrals, dioceses and the whole Church on this, and particularly to realise our vision and strategy that we<\/p>\n

    \n
  • become a church of missionary disciples –<\/strong>\u00a0where all God\u2019s people are free to live the Christian life, wherever we spend our time Sunday to Saturday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • are a church where mixed ecology is the norm<\/strong> –<\/strong> where every person in England has access to an enriching and compelling community of faith by adding new churches and new forms of Church to our parishes, cathedrals, schools and chaplaincies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • are a church that is younger and more diverse – <\/strong>including aiming to double the number of young disciples in our churches, and to invest in and celebrate the historic and growing participation from people from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        You would be a trustee of a large national charity that distributes over \u00a3150 million of grants each year, oversees the systems of safeguarding and ministry formation in the Church of England and which is working to support the whole Church. The Council works with the independent charities in dioceses and parishes across England through support, services and legislation.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

        The Church of England is complex \u2013 we benefit from a richness of theological and liturgical traditions, an established status, a presence in every community in the country, diverse communities, an ordained priesthood and more.<\/p>\n

        We are looking to appoint a new trustee to the Council who understands this richness and celebrates it. The intention is for this person also to Chair the Racial Justice Board, which is a committee of the Archbishops\u2019 Council and oversees the work of the Church of England\u2019s Racial Justice Unit in demonstrating that diversity is foundational to our faith, in encouraging and fostering racial justice, implementing the recommendations of the Archbishops\u2019 Commission for Racial Justice and sharing best practice in this area across the Church.<\/p>\n

        We are interested in hearing from candidates who are familiar with the structure and operation of the Church of England through its dioceses and parishes, and have particular experience of and heart for racial justice. We are looking for people who are passionate about the local church and bringing the Church\u2019s Vision and Strategy to life, and who enjoy working to make a difference.<\/p>\n

        We are looking for a colleague who will:<\/p>\n

        • operate impartially, building trust through applying objective expertise to support decision-making in a diversity of contexts and traditions;<\/li>\n
        • work collaboratively, respective others who hold different views;<\/li>\n
        • demonstrate a commitment to improving racial diversity and racial justice;<\/li>\n
        • be an excellent communicator \u2013 a confident ambassador for work of the Council;<\/li>\n
        • be a person of prayer, who seeks to follow Jesus Christ in all areas of life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
