Role Description

Christ Church seeks to appoint an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead on all aspects of HR. The post holder will provide HR services for academic and professional staff matters whilst ensuring a consistent and efficient approach to personnel management, supporting line-managers and colleagues with generalist HR advice, and leading on HR strategy and policy development. The position offers an exciting opportunity to combine strategic and operational HR responsibilities.

The successful candidate will bring strategic insight and practical expertise to all aspects of personnel management, contributing to the development of a cohesive, inclusive, and forward-looking working environment. They will work closely with the Dean, the Very Revd Professor Sarah Foot, who chairs the self-governing Governing Body, as well as with senior colleagues across the College. The Director of HR will lead the delivery of a professional and responsive HR service, combining high-level strategic planning with day-to-day operational guidance. With sound judgement and a thoughtful, pragmatic approach, they will advise on a wide range of matters from recruitment and retention to organisational development, employee relations, and equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Experience of working in higher education, academic fellowship or professional and expert membership bodies, or complex, multi-faceted institutions will likely give candidates an excellent foundation for this role. Above all, candidates should bring a strong commitment to supporting academic excellence and a collegiate ethos within a diverse and vibrant community.
