Role Description – Chief Executive Officer

The role of the Chief Executive Officer is to lead the Centre for Justice Innovation to build a fairer and more effective justice system, to set the strategy and vision for the Centre’s programmes of work and to be accountable to the Board of Trustees for the Centre’s strategy, delivery, and financial sustainability.

The Chief Executive Officer has overall responsibility for leading the organisation, and managing it effectively, including:

  • Nurturing a healthy work culture at the Centre.
  • Developing and implementing the Centre’s strategic plan and priorities aims.
  • Managing the organisation’s finances effectively.
  • Enhancing the Centre’s reputation as a source of quality, trusted, leadership and support in promoting and developing innovation in the UK’s justice systems.
  • Leading key strategic projects and ensuring that risks are managed.
  • Ensuring the impact of the Centre’s work is evidenced, promoted and used to inform future work.
  • Being an inspirational leader for the organisation, so that it consistently achieves excellence, and invites innovation and change.
  • Promoting the Centre so as to ensure a positive external image and highly motivated workforce.

The Chief Executive Officer reports to the board and is supported by Centre’s management team, made up of the Head of Criminal Justice, the Head of Evidence and Data, the Head of Family Justice, the Head of People, Operations and Finance and the Head of Women’s Justice.
