Dear applicant,
Thank you for your interest in becoming Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for Justice Innovation.
At the Centre for Justice Innovation, we seek to build a justice system which everyone believes is fair and effective. To deliver our vision of a fairer and more effective justice system, we provide hands on support to practitioners in the justice system, conduct research, promote evidence-based policy reforms and share lessons between the jurisdictions of the United Kingdom, and others, especially via our sister organisation in the United States, the Center for Justice Innovation.
The Centre is an award winning not-for profit which works with practitioners, researchers, policymakers and experts with lived experience to deliver impactful change. Since our establishment as an independent charity in 2012, the Centre has built a track record of delivery and impact: driving forward the use of evidence-led prevention and diversion, expanding the number of courts using problem-solving techniques, transforming community justice for women and working with Ministers and officials on practical, policy solutions. We are good at what we do.
This role is a unique opportunity for an ambitious, inspiring and compassionate person to lead our excellent team to deliver ever greater real-world impact. It is also a chance to lead an organisation ready to expand its reach and takes its methods and approaches into new areas while continuing to support our existing communities of practice.
In 2006, I visited the Center for Justice Innovation in New York and saw a vision for justice that felt bold, humane, and transformative. From that day, I couldn’t stop thinking about how those ideas could change lives in the UK. When the Centre was created in the UK in 2012, it’s fair to say I worked shamelessly to inveigle my way into their work. The research, the people, the commitment to doing justice differently—it spoke to my core values. Nearly twenty years later, this work matters more than ever.
We look forward to seeing your application.
With best wishes,
Karyn McCluskey
