Thank you so much for taking a moment to read about the opportunity to become Chair of Cats Protection. We know that considering a role like this takes time and reflection, and we’re really pleased to be able to share a little about the organisation and what lies ahead.
Cats Protection is a charity with a big heart, a long history, and a very clear purpose: to create a society where every cat can live a healthy, happy life. Thanks to the commitment of our staff and the incredible dedication of thousands of volunteers, we help around 156,000 cats each year across the UK. As we look ahead to our centenary in 2027, we’re feeling both proud of how far we’ve come and excited about what the future holds.
This feels like a particularly special moment to join us. We’re building on strong foundations, strengthening our governance, updating the way we work, and bringing people together around a more joined-up national approach, all so we can do even more for cats in the years ahead. The Chair plays a vital part in this, helping to guide, encourage, and support the organisation as it continues to grow and evolve.
Working closely with the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive, the Chair helps set the tone by championing collaboration, constructive challenge, and thoughtful decision-making. Just as importantly, the role is about building relationships and trust across our wonderfully diverse community of volunteers, employees, and supporters, spread right across the four nations.
We’re keen to hear from people who bring strong leadership and governance experience, along with warmth, integrity, good judgement, and a genuinely collaborative approach. A love of our mission really matters to us, and we’re looking for someone who will help ensure Cats Protection remains ambitious, resilient, and true to its values.
