- Influencing at Board and Executive level
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence at various levels, including Board and Executive level.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to challenge and engage courteously.
- Confidence to robustly challenge in a constructive manner, providing an independent point of view based on sound evidence, advice and insight.
- A strong awareness of the wider policy, regulatory, and institutional context, including government priorities.
- Expertise
- Strong industry experience, with the ability to engage credibly with both technical specialists and senior decision-makers.
- Understanding how sustainability evidence, innovation and emerging science translate into commercial, regulatory and operational decisions. Candidates may come from technical, policy, commercial or leadership backgrounds.
- Understanding of the strengths, limitations, and appropriate use of scientific evidence in decision-making, with the ability to interrogate assumptions and conclusions without being a technical specialist.
- Collaborative and inclusive chairing
- Ability to listen and engage with a diverse range of people and views.
- Experience of chairing or participating in experts groups with diverse expertise and experience.
