Purpose Of The Role
Executive Director – Income Generation and Marketing leads and shapes the Marketing and Fundraising strategy for the British Red Cross (BRC) to support our mission of helping people prepare for, respond to and recover from crises. With an in depth understanding of our supporters, builds enduring relationships based on their interests to maximise their valuable contribution and has overall accountability to ensure smooth, value-based journeys through the organisation for them. Develops ambitious and profitable cause-related fundraising asks linked to our 2030 strategy to create a pipeline of funding and finds ways to inspire new supporters.
Main Responsibilities
Executive Leadership of the Directorate
- Lead the development and delivery of the BRC Marketing and Fundraising Strategy to maximise the long term value of these relationships, primarily in net income but also other contributions, in line with the 2030 strategy
- Provide active and strong people leadership to ensure the creation of a collaborative people culture with an emphasis on development, personal growth, team working, wellbeing and connectivity with the wider BRC
- Lead the creation of seamless supporter journeys wherever the journey starts in the organisation which enable supporters to feel a sense of belonging and commitment to the red cross
- Develop a single 360-degree view of supporters to enable us to build enduring relationships that inspires them to share their kindness in financial or other ways
- Collaborate to ensure the brand architecture, content strategy and use of audience insight drive relevance, future-oriented and underpin our supporter engagement strategy
- Develop and deliver our strategy to maximise the multi-year value of cause based relationships with corporates, foundations, trusts and philanthropists
- Creates a culture which focuses on innovation, value for money and long-term sustainable impact
- Own the supporter experience through leadership of interventions that create mutually beneficial relationships and outcomes
Collective Leadership of BRC Organisational Priorities
- Responsible for providing clear and focused leadership of the whole organisation to protect the BRC’s fundamental principles and values and ensure financial sustainability
- Responsible for playing a corporate role in delivering the BRC Corporate 2030 Strategy and supporting the CEO and other Executive Directors in implementing the strategies and policies of the Board of Trustees
- Oversee and ensure the effectiveness of the Society’s risk management systems, practices and procedures
- To take cabinet responsibility in communicating corporate decisions made in ELT or the Board irrespective of personal views
- Play a key part in leading the organisational change agenda and translating the implications for delivery within the Marketing & Fundraising Directorate
