Essential Experience & Abilities
While the below criteria are valuable to us, we recognise that some areas might be grown into over time, especially as we are open to a first-time CEO as much as an experienced CEO. Please note that if there is an area of stretch, you will need to evidence capability through this recruitment process
- A clear passion for BRE’s work and the role we have to play in furthering progress in the built environment sector
- Senior leadership and people management experience at similar scale and complexity, either at CEO or Senior Director level
- Experience of leading the development and implementation of an enterprise-wide business strategy and transformation plan in support of significant organisational and/or commercial improvement. Ideally this would come from an environment in which technical / academic excellence or development of innovative products / services are core capabilities
- Experience of leading business growth through market development, diversification and organisational change in the UK, and ideally with an international footprint
- Senior leadership experience and/or subject matter knowledge in the built environment space or adjacent, such as sustainability, would be beneficial. Please note that we are open to experience from different sectors
- An appreciation of the diversity of how BRE works, recognising that we are a profit-for-purpose business governed by a charitable Trust, with a proven ability to balance commerciality, research, innovation and impact
- Senior leadership experience in an external environment of diversity, complexity and sensitivity, with knowledge of how to effectively respond to and capitalise on dynamic circumstances
- Evidenced experience of developing an inclusive, high-performing culture, balancing innovation, entrepreneurialism, rigour and passion
- Senior leadership experience in an environment where digital transformation has played a critical role in internal and external business success
