About

We’re Blood Cancer UK and we want to change the world for people affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and all types of blood cancer. We do this by funding research, supporting those affected, and campaigning for change.

For nearly 65 years, Blood Cancer UK has been at the heart of the blood cancer community – working with researchers, healthcare professionals and those affected to beat blood cancer.

Since we were founded, we’ve invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives.

Why Blood Cancer UK are launching a major appeal

We are experienced

We’re the largest funder of blood cancer research in the UK. Our dedication to blood cancer research means we have established networks of experts that we can collaborate with, learn more from and help save lives.

We believe in collaboration

We’re not in this alone. We galvanise local knowledge and are uniquely positioned globally, because the NHS allows us to work in a way no other organisation like ours can. This gives us access to the best collaborators, networks and partnerships around the world.

We are blood cancer experts

We are experts in all blood cancers. This means we have access to specific research and expertise that we can push forwards to help make the breakthroughs we need. We understand our community better than anyone, and we know that what people with blood cancer need right now is not just the discovery of new drugs, but personalised treatments that will work for them.

We will make a difference to all types of cancer

Our researchers know that by finding cures to those hardest to treat blood cancers, we will create a halo affect of knowledge transfer which will enable all blood cancers to benefit from this research. Research in blood cancer has pioneered treatments for all types of cancer. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and CAR-T therapy were all made possible by blood cancer research discoveries. If we can find solutions to the hardest to treat blood cancers, this will fundamentally shift care, treatment and survival across all types of cancer.

We constantly strive to ensure that our working practices and culture are in line with our values as an organisation. Our values guide our actions and behaviours in everything we do at Blood Cancer UK. We are delighted to announce that we have retained our 3 star accreditation, world class engagement rating, improving on our scores from 2021.
