Welcome

Welcome From Our Chair

Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Programmes and Learning of the Barrow Cadbury Trust and the Barrow Cadbury Fund.

The Trust was founded over 100 years ago. We work proactively to create a more just and equal society, as well as supporting others in their work.

This is an exciting time for the Trust: we have an ambitious strategic plan in place to ensure that our impact continues. We have a staff team that is highly capable and expert in their fields, and a committed and engaged board of trustees.

We are living in challenging times and aspects of our sector are changing significantly.

Our long-standing Director of Programmes, Debbie Pippard, will be standing down in 2026 and we are looking for a successor who can:

  • Oversee the continued development and delivery of the Trust’s grant-funded programmes
  • Ensure that learning and evaluation from the Trust’s programmes are/is gathered and communicated in the service of structural change for a more just and equal society
  • Be a proactive member of the Trust’s Executive Team.

If you have a strong interest in our work, a passion for social justice and a desire to bring who you are and your skills and experience to contribute to our journey, then we really would like to hear from you.

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation and genuinely welcome and encourage candidates from a range of backgrounds to apply, people with personal experience of the social justice and human rights issues we seek to address.

If you would like an informal chat about the role, then please get in touch with our advisors at Green Park who will be happy to help and support you and connect you with our Chief Executive, Asif Afridi, if you would also like to arrange an informal conversation before applying.

Erica Cadbury,

Chair of Trustees
