Welcome From Our Chair
Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Finance and Administration at the Barrow Cadbury Trust and the Barrow Cadbury Fund.
The Trust was founded over 100 years ago. We work proactively to create a more just and equal society, as well as supporting others in their work.
This is an exciting time for the Trust. We have a new CEO, Asif Afridi, starting at the end of March. Asif is currently Deputy Director for equalities organisation Brap, based in Birmingham. Brap is a long-time partner of the Trust.
We have an ambitious strategic plan in place to ensure that our impact continues. We have a staff team that is highly capable and expert in their fields, and a committed and hard-working board.
These are challenging times we are living in, and aspects of our sector are changing significantly. Our long-standing Director of Finance and Administration, Mark O’Kelly, is retiring later in 2025 so we are recruiting a successor who can help us:
- Make the best ethical use of our resource base, in alignment with our values,
- Report to and enable our Investment Management Committee and Board to manage our endowment,
- Account for all our finances in a compliant and transparent way, and
- Be a proactive member of the Trust’s Executive Team.
If you have a strong interest in our work, a passion for social justice and a desire to bring who you are and your skills and experience to contribute to our journey, then we really would like to hear from you.
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation and genuinely welcome and encourage candidates from a range of backgrounds to apply, especially people of colour, people with disabilities and people from low socio-economic backgrounds.
If you would like an informal chat about the role, then please get in touch with our advisors at Green Park who will be happy to help and support you and connect you with Mark if you would also like to arrange an informal conversation before applying.
Erica Cadbury,
Chair of Trustees
