How to Apply

Appointment process

All Board and Committee members are appointed by the Ark Board, our parent charity in their role as sole-member of Ark Schools, on the recommendation of the Ark Schools Board. They will be provided with a structured induction and ongoing one-to-one support. The appointment process will involve the following stages:

  • Initial interview with CEO and explore the role and the candidate’s suitability
  • Meeting with Chair of Trustees and Risk and Audit Committee member
  • Completion of all relevant checks before final appointment, including an enhanced DBS check

Ark is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in its academies. In order to meet this responsibility, we follow a rigorous selection process to discourage and screen out unsuitable applicants. 

Ark requires all employees and volunteers to undertake an enhanced DBS check. You are required, before appointment, to disclose any unspent conviction, cautions, reprimands, or warnings under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. Non-disclosure may lead to termination of appointment. However, disclosure of a criminal background will not necessarily debar you from appointment – this will depend upon the nature of the offence(s) and when they occurred.
