Role Title: Director of Finance and Corporate Services.
Salary: It will be offered as a Permanent contract, annual salary: c £100,000.
Location: Contractually based in the Aldgate office and you’ll need to be able to attend this office a minimum of two days a week.
Hours: This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week.
Asthma + Lung UK was established from a merger of Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation in 2020. As we transition from a period of intense operational transformation, we are moving to a new phase. We need to ensure that the charity is supported in optimising recently installed ICT infrastructure, upgrading our finance systems and developing a skilled and resilient staff base.
The role of Director of Finance and Corporate Services will deliver efficient operations and effective cross organisation working, continuously innovating and optimising in line with changing external environment and organisational requirements. They will also be the Company Secretary, a Director of trading arms, Legal liaison, Gambling Commission licence holder and Data Controller. As a member of the Executive Team the post holder will form part of the collective leadership of the charity.
- Occasional travel may be required as we have staff based across the UK
- Occasional overnight stays away from home.
- Occasional attendance at meetings and events during evenings and weekends.

Face-to-face working is an important part of our culture, and we use our office in Aldgate E1 as the main place where that happens. This role is contractually based in the Aldgate office and you’ll need to be able to attend this office a minimum of two days a week. We think that amount of face-to-face working is the right balance to support our vision of a world where everyone has healthy lungs.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading on the delivery of an achievable and effective operations strategy ensuring a robust, efficient and cost effective infrastructure to best meet the current and future requirements of the organisation.
- Ensuring the efficient and effective management of all the financial affairs of the organisation including financial strategy, investment portfolio, cash flow, financial accounting, management accounting, statutory reporting, external and internal audit.
- Ensuring the charity meets its governance obligations including acting as Company Secretary, Data Controller, Gambling Commission licence holder.
- Leading the overall information governance for the organisation; evolving policy and practice in line with best practice.
- Lead the Data + Insight function to deliver the strategic aims of the charity.
- Leading the identification and management of risks to the organisation; work proactively with colleagues to solve problems and remove obstacles.
- Leading the provision of high quality people services to support the delivery of the organisation’s overall strategy and objectives, through the recruitment, recognition, retention and development of its people, culture, policies and procedure, ensuring legal compliance in respect of employment related matters.
- Monitoring the external environment to understand the latest developments & challenges in the regulatory, technology and charity environment. Evaluate their significance, assess their potential for the organisation and identify new opportunities and innovations to help us achieve its objectives.
- Motivating and leading an ambitious, effective and efficient directorate able to meet the charity’s and stakeholders’ needs.
- Ensuring Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is embedded into the work of the Directorate.
- As a member of the Executive Team contribute to, and be jointly responsible for, the development and delivery of the charity’s organisational strategy and the effective leadership of the organisation.
- Promote the charity’s values and model excellent leadership behaviours.
- Other duties as requested by the line manager.
