Job Title: Independent Board Member
Remuneration: Circa £5,000 per annum (plus reasonable expenses)
Purpose of the Role
- To work with the FHA Board of management and management team to lead FHA in its purpose
- To provide collective and collaborative leadership, engaging with the rest of the FHA Board of management to create effective governance for FHA
- To work with the FHA Board of management and management team to create effective governances for FHA
- To work with the Board and management team to define strategy
- To contribute relevant experience, expertise and insight in order to assist FHA in fulfilling its potential
- To ensure that the views and interests of our clients are represented at a strategic level
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible to the Chair of the Board
- Build and maintain effective and constructive working relationships with other members of the Board; Chief Executive and senior staff within the organisation
- Prepare for Board meetings by reading all relevant papers/reports in advance of the meeting to enable engagement and informed challenge.
- Act as an ambassador and representative of the organisation, upholding the reputation of FHA and its values; objectives and principles;
- Act in accordance with FHA adopted Code of Governance and Code of Conduct for individuals
- Apply personal expertise with due regard to both the business and social aspects of the business
- Have awareness of, and keep abreast of developments in the sector
