The Board has a vital role to play in shaping the organisation’s strategy and vision. It also has an important role to play in ensuring that CCHA delivers a people focused culture, achieving high levels of customer and staff satisfaction and offering choices which meet customers’ needs and expectations.
Responsibilities
Board Member responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Approving the Corporate Strategy for CCHA and monitoring to ensure we achieve CCHA’s purpose in line with our values.
- Setting and modelling a positive culture, with a strong people focus.
- Ensuring the needs and safety of the organisation’s current and future residents, other customers and staff are placed at the heart of the Board’s decision-making.
- Ensuring that CCHA achieves value for money through all of its operations.
- Providing oversight, direction and constructive challenge to CCHA’s Chief Executive and executives.
- The appointment and, if necessary, dismissal of the Chief Executive.
- Being satisfied as to the integrity of financial information, approving each year’s budget, Financial Plan and annual accounts prior to publication.
- Ensuring Financial Plans are stress-tested and that we maintain compliance with our Golden Rules.
- Establishing, overseeing and reviewing a framework of delegation and systems of internal control.
- Establishing, overseeing and reviewing a framework to ensure CCHA meets its responsibilities on statutory and regulatory compliance.
- Establishing and overseeing a risk management and assurance framework.
- Safeguarding the assets and reputation of CCHA.
- Ensuring that CCHA fulfils its duties and responsibilities lawfully and in accordance with its Rules, regulatory requirements and probity.
- Preparing for, attending and contributing at Board meetings, any Committees of the Board and Board Working Groups.
- Promoting, supporting and representing the work of CCHA in a positive manner.
- Participating in an individual performance appraisal and in group Board and Committee effectiveness appraisals.
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the Board Chair, colleagues and executive officers.
- Promoting and upholding the values of CCHA and abiding by the Code of Conduct.
- In addition to the above responsibilities, there will be a requirement for Board Members to sit on Committee(s) of the Board and potentially on Board Working Groups.
