We are the international arm of the Age UK Group, and a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) \u2013 the only member focussed on supporting older people through crises.<\/p>\n<p>As a human-rights based, non-religious and non-political charity, we support humanitarian relief and long-term development assistance for older people in need, regardless of their real or perceived characteristics. We drive change in UK policy through influencing and campaigning that focuses on older people\u2019s rights, humanitarian inclusion, health, and income security. We raise circa \u00a320 million a year from the UK public and other donors, which supports the HelpAge global network to implement programmes.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Our Work During Emergencies\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Older people are among those most in need of support during conflicts, crises, and natural disasters. We support humanitarian responses designed to meet their particular needs. We are currently supporting partners working in Ukraine, Gaza and Myanmar.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Supporting Older People\u2019s Incomes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We support campaigns for social pensions around the world. Where governments do provide benefits, we help older people to claim them and, with our partners, press governments to do more. We also support older people to generate income through running a small business.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How We Transform Health<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Older people deserve equitable access to high-quality healthcare. We support their long-term health and wellbeing, as well as enabling them to access and advocate for healthcare. We press governments to strengthen health systems around the world.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Protecting Older People\u2019s Rights<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We want every older person to be included, valued and heard. Everyone has the right, not just to survive, but to thrive as they grow older. We offer resources and support which enable older people to actively contribute to society. We help cultivate respect within communities and amplify older people\u2019s voices. We are campaigning for a new United Nations Convention on the Rights of Older Persons.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>About Age UK<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Age UK is the country\u2019s leading charity dedicated to providing crucial support for older people and driving change in the way they are valued and included in society.<\/p>\n<p>Our focus is on the older people who need us the most. We are a strong voice, campaigning with and for older people to champion their rights, needs and wishes. Our family includes the Age UK Network, which is a partnership of independent charities across the UK including local Age UK charities as well Age Cymru, Age Northern Ireland and Age Scotland.
