Welcome
Thank you for your interest in becoming Chair of Age International, and joining our work towards a world where every older person is included and valued.
Age International, Age UK’s international charity, supports and promotes the rights of older people in low- and middle-income countries, through long-term development programmes, humanitarian responses and advocacy. It is the UK member of the HelpAge International global network and a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee. Age International plays a key role in influencing funders and decision-makers to tackle the structural causes of poverty and social injustice impacting older people by:
- Inspiring and channelling UK support for older people in challenging situations across the world.
- Raising funds to support partner organisations working with older people.
- Raising awareness of the challenges older people face and demonstrating to the UK Government and other decision-makers that the UK public wants more for older people worldwide.
In the UK, Age UK nationally, and the Age UK Network locally, provide crucial support for the most vulnerable older people and are helping to drive a change in attitudes and support for ageing. You will be a crucial link between Age International and Age UK, as well as fostering a strong relationship with HelpAge International.
As Chair of Age International, you will play a key role in strategy and direction setting, as well as income generation and ensuring our resources are used wisely. Your leadership will contribute to our culture and profile. This is an exciting time to join us, so, if you want to help create change for, and with, older people around the world, do please apply.
We look forward to hearing from you.
