Overview
100x is launching a new insights pillar to turn our work into lessons that drive impact at scale. This function will uncover patterns of success and failure from our ventures, informing governments, philanthropies, and impact investors on how social innovations reach hundreds of millions of people. It will also track and evaluate 100x’s own effectiveness, ensuring that our approach continuously improves and generates insights that drive wider change.
We are now seeking a Chief Insights Officer to build this function from the ground up. This role offers the rare opportunity to build a first-of-its-kind insights function from scratch, shaping 100x’s global insights agenda and driving transformative impact. It provides access to a uniquely curated portfolio of high-potential ventures, supported by a strong funding base that ensures long-term sustainability. Embedded within LSE, the world’s leading social sciences institution, the role offers direct access to cutting-edge research and a powerful platform to influence policy, academia, and practice.
Role Summary
The 100x Chief Insights Officer (CIO) is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team at 100x Impact, responsible for architecting and delivering an integrated, world-leading insights and learning function that underpins 100x’s global influence and impact.
This role leads on converting data, research, and venture experience into powerful, decision-relevant knowledge products and strategies that drive systemic change.
The right candidate will be enterprising, rigorous, and action-oriented, comfortable working with data, ventures, and academic networks to produce grounded and actionable insights that drive systemic change.
Key Responsibilities
Build and Lead the Insights Function
- Establish 100x’s long-term insights strategy, ensuring that our work generates practical lessons for the sector
- Develop a scalable data architecture to track impact ventures engaged in the programme
- Work with the Venture Acceleration pillar to ensure insights shape 100x’s venture selection, programming, and support strategies to optimise venture success
- Ensure 100x continuously learns and improves as a scale accelerator, with around 15-20% of the role focused on tracking our impact
Develop and Analyse Insights from Ventures
- Identify and analyse patterns of success and failure, ensuring insights directly shape real-world decision-making
- Develop hypotheses and data frameworks on how venture-led innovations scale and spread, testing and refining them through engagement with ventures and robust impact evaluation of 100x’s own impact
- Capture deep case studies and founder experiences to complement quantitative findings
Work with LSE and External Networks
- Leverage 100x’s partnership with LSE to connect ventures with leading researchers, strengthening insight generation and impact measurement, as well as oversee research grants
- Identify opportunities for deployment of innovations modelled in our portfolio, working with LSE colleagues to identify and influence new geographies that are well-positioned to take them on
- Position 100x as a key player in evidence-driven social innovation, bridging entrepreneurship, policy, and academia
- Ensure insights are actionable, influencing governments, philanthropies, and investors
Support 100x’s Influencing Efforts
- Work behind the scenes to equip 100x leadership and the influencing function with powerful insights that inform the capital allocations of governments and global philanthropy
- Create both practical lessons for the sector as well as co-create academic case studies for LSE
- Over time, explore opportunities to develop a public-facing thought leadership role
- Ensure 100x’s insights—including impact data and lessons from our accelerator model—are cited and shared in policy, funding decisions, and the academic community
Who We’re Looking For
This role is for someone who wants to build something transformative from the ground up alongside a high-performance team, leveraging an unparalleled portfolio of impact ventures, strong funding, and a unique partnership with LSE to redefine how the world thinks about scaling social impact.
It is a strategic and high-impact role. You will thrive if you:
